I went in for a hernia procedure on the 19th of January, 2023, and I was delighted with the personal attention, thoughtfulness and meticulous care which I received from the nurses, clinicians, receptionists and catering staff, who I came into direct contact with during my short stay. At every stage of my treatment, including pre assessments, everything was clearly and precisely explained. My private room was spacious, with an extremely comfortable bed, and because there was virtual silence outside in the corridors, I was able to sleep soundly. In conclusion, I was deeply impressed with the professionalism of the entire hospital organisation.

I have been a NHS patient at Chelsfield Park on two occasions, for knee and hip replacement and have been treated wonderfully both times. The care and courtesy shown to me and to my husband (as a visitor) has been first-class. Thank you so much to all the staff.

When I attended Chelsfield Park Hospital to have my knee replacement operation, I received an excellent, friendly, professional service. On my first visit I met my consultant Mr Zameer Shah, who’s friendly smile and personality immediately put me at ease as he explained the procedure and the options I had. My follow up visit three months later we reviewed my position, Mr Shah explained the procedure in detail also that this operation would be painful, and following our discussion I decided to go ahead. When I arrived for my operation, I was welcomed at the reception and escorted to my room by a young lady who explained everything I needed to know, how to operate the TV, the phone facility, the times the meals were served, the menu. On the subject of the food, the meals were excellent. During the afternoon I met the anesthetist who was kind and made the point that he would be there for me all the time during my operation. I felt quite relaxed and safe, but this reassurance made me feel even better. After my operation I returned to my room to enjoy my evening meal, roast chicken and all the vegetables – it was just like Christmas! My nurse introduced herself and told me she would be looking after me overnight, which she did, a kind caring girl. My full English breakfast was served the following morning, really impressive, I took a photo of it on my phone and sent it to my friends. I met my physio, an enthusiastic young lady who gave me instructions on how to use the walking sticks to navigate along the hallway and up and down the stairs. Prior to leaving I enjoyed a Jerk salmon meal, delicious! Another photo. As I left, I thanked everyone for their kindness and friendly hospitality and returned home. The following morning, I received a telephone call checking that I was okay and if I had any questions regarding my recovery at home and I was told, if I think of anything, I can call the Ward. I received another telephone call the following morning checking that I was okay. I returned on Thursday 10th November for a Physio update with another enthusiastic young lady and Friday 11th to meet a nurse who checked my wound, which was healing nicely. I came back on Monday 14th November for an appointment with Mr Shah, when I had the opportunity to thank him personally. I thank all the Chelsfield Park Hospital Team for looking after me, I had a most enjoyable stay.

I made the mistake of having cataract surgery. I originally only needed to have one eye done. After The surgeon changed the strength of my eye to such an extent, it caused an imbalance. I was advised that the solution was to have the other eye done. After the second procedure, I ended up with the same problem. I now have completely different strengths of my eyes, and will have to have further surgery to correct this. The hospital has done everything they can to dismiss my concerns. I was given the consent form to sign while I had drops in my eyes, so I could not see what I was signing. It was not suggested that I take the form away to read prior to signing. I would not recommend that you have cataract surgery at this hospital. They seem to cover themselves very well, and I am of the opinion that what one signs effectively means they can do whatever they want, with no comeback. Please research fully about cataract surgery, before you agree to anything. Ask if they are going to change the strength of your eyesight, and if so, research what effect it will have on you. I would honestly advise you to go to a dedicated cataract surgery practice. I deeply regret putting my trust in this hospital.

I had a hip replacement last Wednesday. The surgeon, anaesthetist, nursing staff and everyone I had dealings with went above and beyond. It was clean, comfortable and I was happy I was treated there. Thank you everyone……
